New Port Richey Man Killed in U.S. 19 Hit and Run
FHP troopers are searching for the car that hit him. It was described as a blue 2004 Saturn Ion coupe.
PASCO COUNTY – A New Port Richey man died Saturday (Feb. 16) when his bicycle was hit while he was crossing U.S. 19, the Florida Highway Patrol said.
John D. Mowry, 43, of New Port Richey, died at the scene. He was not wearing a bicycle helmet.
The crash happened about 8:38 p.m. at the intersection of U.S. 19 and Holiday Hills Boulevard in Pasco County.
Troopers said Mr. Mowry was on Holiday Hills Boulevard crossing U.S. 19 when he rode into the path of an oncoming car. After the crash, the car fled the scene.
FHP troopers are searching for the driver and the car, which was determined to be a blue 2004 Saturn Ion coupe. Anyone with any information about the driver or car is asked to contact the FHP by calling (813) 558-1800 or Crime Stoppers at (800) 873-TIPS.
