New Port Richey Man Dies in Early Morning Crash

He was thrown from the car he was driving when it overturned, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

PASCO COUNTY – A New Port Richey man died early this morning (Feb. 16) after he was thrown from his car when it overturned, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Ernesto Torres, 32, of New Port Richey, died at the scene. He was not wearing a seat belt.

Troopers said Mr. Torres was driving a 2008 Chevrolet Malibu north on County Road 77 (Rowan Road) north of Alderman Road in Pasco County when, for unknown reasons, he lost control of the car. The car left the road and collided with a utility pole. Mr. Torres was thrown out of the car.
