Port Richey Man Accused of DUI in U.S. 19 Crash

More than 500 gallons of vegetable oil spilled from one of the vehicles, FHP troopers said.

PINELLAS COUNTY – A Port Richey man was arrested after a crash that closed northbound U.S. 19 while vegetable oil was cleared from the roadway, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Ricardo Antonio Quintana, 26, of Port Richey, was charged with one count each of DUI Property Damage, Possession of Cannabis Less than 20 Grams, Careless Driving, and Open Container. Quintana suffered minor injuries in the crash but was not taken to the hospital. The other driver was not injured.

The crash happened about 4:58 a.m. Friday (March 1) on U.S. N just north of Curlew Road in Pinellas County.

Troopers said Quintana was driving a 2016 Hyundai north on U.S. 19 when he overtook and collided with the rear of a 1991 Cnevrolet truck. As a result of the crash, more than 500 gallons of vegetable spilled out of the truck, closing the northbound lanes of U.S. 19 while the substance was cleaned up.
