OSCEOLA COUNTY – A Plant City teen died Monday (Sept. 3) as the result of a traffic crash in Osceola County, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Peter Finucane-Terlop, 19, of Plant City, died as a result of the crash. One of the other drivers, Natasha Johnson Smith, 27, of Spring Hill, was taken to Osceola Regional Hospital with serious injuries.

The crash happened about 10:20 p.m. on State Road 60 near Peavine Road. Smith was driving a 2011 BMW 535I west in the eastbound lane on SR 60. Witnesses told troopers she was trying to pass other vehicles that were in front of her.

Jacob Black, 29, of Fort Pierce, was driving a 2015 Jeep Wrangler east on SR 60 in front of a 2008 Volkswagen GTI driven by Mr. Finucane-Terlop, Black swerved onto the shoulder to avoid a head-on collision, troopers said.

Mr. Finucane-Terlop was not able to see the BMW until the collision, troopers said. The front left of the BMW hit the front left of the Volkswagen.

The Jeep sustained damage to its left rear tire.

Troopers said the crash remains under investigation and charges are pending against Smith.
