Plant City Hit-and-Run Crash Leaves Pedestrian Dead

Plant City police are investigating the crash.

PLANT CITY – The Plant City Police Department is investigating a hit-and-run crash that left a man dead by the side of the road.

Information about the dead man’s identity was unavailable. Police said he appears to have been appears to be within the mid-40s to mid-50s age range.

Officers said they were called to an area about 1000 feet west of Charlie Taylor Road about 10 p.m. Thursday (Jan. 17) for a report of a man lying on the side of the road.

Based on witness description and evidence left at the scene, officers said a the vehicle that hit him is likely a silver or light green small SUV that would have moderate to heavy damage to the front of the driver’s side. The front bumper might be partially torn and hanging from the vehicle.

After hitting the pedestrian, the vehicle is believed to have fled northbound on Charlie Taylor Road. There is no driver or passenger information at this time.
