Pinellas Park Woman Dies in 49th Street Crash
The woman, who was on a bicycle, crossed against a red light, FHP troopers said.
LEALMAN – A Pinellas Park bicyclist died in a crash on 49th Street on Saturday (Feb. 9) when she was hit after she crossed against a red light, the Florida Highway Patrol said.
Samatha Bilbrey, 28, died at the scene. the driver, Daniel Dagesse, 22, of St. Petersburg, suffered minor injuries but was not taken to a hospital. Alcohol was not a factor in the crash, troopers said.
The crash happened about 12:41 a.m. at the intersection of 49th Street N and 54th Avenue in the unincorporated Lealman area of Pinellas County.
Troopers said Dagesse was driving a 1998 Toyota Camry south on 49th Street N with a green traffic signal at 54th Avenue. Ms. Bilbrey was riding a bike west on 54th in the crosswalk against a red signal.
The bike traveled into the path of the Toyota and the two collided.
No charges were filed.
