The motorcycle driver rear-ended one car, then left the scene and rear-ended a second car, the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office said.

MADEIRA BEACH – A motorcyclist was seriously injured in two traffic crashes on Madeira Beach late Friday (June 15) night, the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office said.

Lance McLeod, 55, of Seminole, was taken to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg with serious but not life-threatening injuries. No one else was injured as a result of the crashes.

The incident began about 10:54 p.m. on Gulf Boulevard in Madeira Beach.

D’Anta Solomon, 30, of Temple Terrace, was driving his 2008 Volkswagen Jetta northbound in the curb lane of Gulf Boulevard approaching the intersection of 129th Avenue W when he slowed down for a vehicle making a right turn off Gulf.

Deputies said McLeod was behind Solomon driving his 2014 Harley Davidson northbound in the curb lane of Gulf, when he rear-ended Solomon’s Volkswagen. After the impact, McLeod left the scene of the crash and sped off on his motorcycle, northbound on Gulf Boulevard.

McLeod continued north towards the intersection of 131st Avenue E where, deputies said, he rear-ended a 2002 Honda Civic driven by Urszula B Brzeska Boguszewsk, 61, of Largo. The crash caused McLeod to lose control and he was thrown off his motorcycle.

Sheriff’s investigators said they have reason to believe McLeod was impaired at the time of the crash.

The investigation is continuing.
