PINELLAS COUNTY – A Largo man died of injuries received in a traffic crash Monday (Sept. 26) when he was thrown from the van he was driving, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Hollmar Matos-Perozo, 30, of Largo, died at St. Joseph’s Hospital where he was taken after the crash. The other driver, Megan McBride, 18, of St. Petersburg, and Victor Hernandez-Figueroa, 56, of Largo, the passenger in Mr. Matos-Perozo’s van, received minor injuries. Neither was taken to a hospital.

The crash happened about 8:45 a.m. at the northbound entrance ramp to I-275 and State Road 688. Troopers said McBride, who was driving a 2007 Mitsubishi Galant, hit the side of the 2009 Chevrolet van that Mr. Matos-Perozo was driving when she tried to change lanes. The van overturned and Mr. Matos-Perozo, who was not wearing a seat belt, was thrown from the vehicle. The Mitsubishi spun and collided with a concrete barrier wall.
