Pickup Truck Overturns into Tampa Bay

PINELLAS COUNTY – A pickup truck went into Tampa Bay this morning (Jan. 23) after the driver fell asleep at the wheel, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Osvaldo Jares, 25, of Miami, was not injured in the crash. He was accused of careless driving.

The crash happened about 9:16 a.m. on Gandy Boulevard in Pinellas County. Troopers said Jares was driving a 2002 Ford F150 west on Gandy approaching San Fernando Boulevard NE. Jares fell asleep at the wheel, lost control of the truck and left the roadway. The pickup truck traveled north and overturned into Tampa Bay.
