Pedestrian Killed in Pinellas Park Crash

She was walking in the traffic lane, Pinellas Park police said.

PINELLAS PARK – A St. Petersburg woman died Monday (July 3) night when she was hit by a car, according to the Pinellas Park police.

Penny Cochran, 57, of St. Peterburg, died at the scene.

The crash happened about 9 p.m. in the 5500 block of 62nd Avenue N. Ms. Cochran was walking east in the eastbound lane of traffic when she was hit by a 2016 Honda Accord driven by Matthew Rotkis IV, 32, also of St. Petersburg. The impact threw Ms. Cochran several feet away, police said.

The investigation in ongoing. There were no signs of impairment and there are no pending criminal charges at this time.
