Pedestrian Hit by Train, Hillsborough Deputies Say

Hillsborough sheriff’s deputies are investigating the fatality.

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY – A homeless man died Sunday (May 7) when he was hit by a train, according to the Hillsborough Sheriff’s Office.

Jeremy Richard Lee Haag, 43, of Seffner, died at the scene.

The crash happened about 5:48 p.m. An Amtrak train carrying about 120 [people had just left the station in downtown Tampa and was traveling eastbound. when it approached a man walking eastbound on the track in the area of Highview Road. Deputies said the conductor blew the horn on the train but was unable to stop and struck the man.
