Pedestrian Dies in U.S. 301 Crash

The man walked into the path of an oncoming pickup truck, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY – A Plant City man was killed Sunday (Feb. 25) evening when he walked into the path of an oncoming pickup truck, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

The name of the 33-year-old Plant City man is being withheld pending notification of his next of kin. He died at the scene.

The crash happened about 7:26 p.m. on northbound U.S. 301 at Williams Road. Troopers said the Plant City man was walking eastbound across U.S. 301 when he stepped into the path of a 2002 Toyota Tacoma driven by Barry Elliott, 69, of Thonotosassa.
