Pedestrian Dies in I-75 Crash

She walked into the path of an oncoming vehicle, FHP troopers said.

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY – An unidentified woman died early Sunday (May 12) when she was hit by a Hummer while walking in I-75, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Courtney Ellen Krysa, 22, of Tampa, died at the scene. The driver of the 2004 Hummer H2 suffered minor injuries but was not taken to a hospital. Neither the pedestrian nor the driver had been drinking.

The crash happened about 4:50 a.m. on I-75 at about the 240 milepost in Hillsborough County.

Troopers said there were two vehicles parked along the outside shoulder of I-75 where Ms. Krysa was standing. For an unknown reason, she walked across the roadway into the Hummer’s path.
