He traveled into the path of an oncoming SUV, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

PASCO COUNTY – A Tampa man died Monday (April 9) evening when he was hit while trying to cross I-75, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

The name of the dead man is being withheld pending notification of next of kin. Troopers said he is a 32-year-old Tampa man. He died at the scene.

The crash happened about 6:27 p.m. on northbound I-75 north of State Road 54 in Pasco County. Troopers said the Tampa man was traveling east across the interstate after being involved in a single-vehicle crash in the median. He traveled into the path of a 2013 Chevrolet Traverse driven by James D. Bobbert, Jr., 53, of Spring Hill. No charges have been filed.
