Pedestrian Dies in Hillsborough Crash

The man walked into the path of an oncoming pickup truck, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY – A Plant City man died Friday (June 30) night when he was hit by a pickup truck while he was crossing a road, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Richard Leon Brooks, 69, of Plant City, died at the scene. Alcohol was not a factor in the crash, troopers said.

The crash happened about 10:40 p.m. in the eastbound lanes of State Road 60 west of Edwards Avenue. Mr. Brooks was walking south across SR 60 when he walked into the path of a 2003 Dodge pickup driven by Kelitiza Rodriguez-Lopez, 25, of Brandon.
