The driver had a green light, Hillsborough sheriff’s deputies said.

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY – A Tampa man died this morning (May 12) when he was hit while crossing W Waters Avenue, according to the Hillsborough Sheriff’s Office.

Ivan Martinez, 30, died at the scene.

The crash happened about 5:48 a.m. at the intersection of W Waters and Woodland Corp. Boulevard. Mr. Martinez walked from the north shoulder directly into the path of a 2005 Nissan Altima driven by Mario Raul Falcon Ramos, 59, of Tampa, who was traveling westbound on Waters facing a green light. Deputies said Falcon Ramos braked to avoid the crash but was unable to stop. The Nissan hit Mr. Martinez.
