Pedestrian Dies after Hillsborough Crash

The accident happened in a poorly lit area, according to the Hillsborough County sheriff.

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY – A Castleberry man died early Saturday (July 30) morning when he was hit while crossing a road, the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office said.

Humphrey Felipa, 39, of Castleberry, died at Florida Hospital where he was taken after the accident.

Mr. Felipa was crossing Bearss Avenue about 12:10 a.m. in a poorly lighted area when the accident happened. Deputies said he was not in a crosswalk when he was hit by a 2000 Lincoln Navigator driven by Anthony Walter Chaves, 27, of Tampa. There were no signs of impairment, deputies said.
