Pedestrian Critically Injured in Hillsborough Crash

He was in a marked crosswalk but had violated signals, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY – A pedestrian was critically injured Saturday (May 20) when he was hit while crossing U.S. 301, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

David Rios-Rodriguez, 43, of Riverview, was taken to Tampa General Hospital.

The crash happened about 2:27 a.m. at the intersection of U.S. 301 and Big Bend Road. Rios-Rodriguez was crossing U.S. 301 in a marked crosswalk when he was hit by a 2009 Hyundai Sonata driven by Judith Gran, 73, of Riverview, troopers said. Troopers said Rios-Rodriguez was crossing against the pedestrian crosswalk signal.
