He walked into the path of an oncoming SUV, FHP troopers said.

PINELLAS COUNTY – A Largo man was critically injured Friday (Sept. 7) when he was hit while crossing Oakhurst Road, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

William Zitzelberger, 41, of Largo, was taken to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg in critical condition.

The crash happened about 5:59 p.m. at the intersection of Oakhurst Road and 105th Avenue N in Pinellas County.

Troopers said Zitzelberger was crossing Oakhurst when he walked into the path of a 2016 Honda CRV that was being driven north on Oakhurst by Edward McDonald, 89, of Largo.
