PINELLAS COUNTY – A Hudson man is in serious condition after he was hit while crossing a Pinellas road Saturday (Feb. 11), according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Michael John Kopas, 69, of Hudson, was taken to Bayfront Health in St. Petersburg in serious condition.

The crash happened about 6:18 a.m. at the intersection of State Road 580 and Summerdale Drive. Troopers said Debra Fay La Clair, 56, of Clearwater, was driving a 2013 Volkswagen Beetle west on 580 when she struck Kopas, who was in a crosswalk.
