Pedestrian, 94, Dies in Hillsborough Avenue Traffic Crash

He stepped into oncoming traffic, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY – A 94-year-old Tampa man died Tuesday (March 27) when he was hit by a car while trying to cross Hillsborough Avenue, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Wilbert W. Williams, 94, of Tampa, died at the scene.

The crash happened about 8:16 p.m. on State Road 580 (W Hillsborough Avenue) west of Webb Road. Troopers said Mr. Williams was trying to cross the westbound lanes of Hillsborough from the center curbed median. He walked into the path of a 2012 Hyundai Sonata driven by Jessica F. Tenenblatt, 39, of Tampa.
