Passenger Killed in Hernando Crash on I-75

The driver was seriously injured, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

HERNANDO COUNTY – The passenger was killed and the driver seriously injured Sunday (July 2) when an SUV overturned on I-75, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Linda J. Lockamy, 60, of Brandon, died at the scene. The driver, Francis K. Lockamy, 69, also of Brandon, was taken to St. Joseph’s Hospital with serious injuries.

The crash happened about 3:29 p.m. in the northbound lanes of I-75 north of State Road 50. Lockamy was driving a 1999 Toyota 4Runner that, for unknown reasons, left the road and went onto the eastern shoulder. The SUV spun, went back across the highway where it collided with the concrete median wall, troopers said. The SUV again spun, crossed back onto the highway, overturned and came to rest upright on the shoulder.
