HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY – A Winter Haven man was critically injured this morning (May 27) in a one-car crash in Hillsborough County, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Eric Gregory Swilling, 25, of Winter Haven, was airlifted to Tampa General Hospital. The driver, Dalton Lang Storie, 26, and the other passenger, Raven Uriah Walters, 25, both of Bartow, suffered minor injuries. Neither was taken to the hospital.

The crash happened about 1 a.m. on State Road 674 several miles east of County Road 39. Troopers said Storie swerved to the south shoulder of the road to avoid several deer, then over-corrected to the north. Storie lost control of the BMW 318 he was driving and spun. The car entered the tree line on the north side of the road and struck numerous trees and brush before it came to a rest.

Troopers said Storie was cited for driving with a suspended license and having no insurance.
