Park Boulevard Crash Kills Pedestrian

This is the 13th traffic fatality in Pinellas Park this year and the 56th in Pinellas County.

PINELLAS PARK – A Largo man has died from injuries he suffered Wednesday (Dec. 19) when he was hit while crossing Park Boulevard, the Pinellas Park Police Department said.

Thomas J. Mercurio, 60 of Largo, died at Bayfront Health St. Petersburg where he was taken after the crash.

The crash happened at 75th Street N and Park Boulevard.

Police said Mr. Mercurio was crossing Park from south to north when he stepped off the median into the westbound lanes of traffic where he was struck by a 2014 Hyundai. Speed was not a factor in the crash.

Mr. Mercurio died at the scene but was revived enroute to Bayfront. He succumbed to his injuries today.
