Palm Harbor Man Killed Crossing U.S. 19

He was in a crosswalk, but the driver had a green light, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

PINELLAS COUNTY – A Palm Harbor man died Saturday (Jan. 27) of injuries he received while walking across U.S. 19 N, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Walter J. Fitzgerald, 85, of Palm Harbor, died at the scene.

The crash happened about 6:56 a.m. at the intersection of U.S. 19 and Alderman Road. Mr. Fitzgerald was walking west across U.S. 19 in a marked pedestrian crosswalk. Troopers said he was hit by a 2001 Cadillac SLS driven by Dominick J. Rozzi, 22, of Holiday. The Cadillac had entered the intersection under a green traffic light.
