Palm Harbor Man Dies After Crash in Publix Parking Lot

PINELLAS COUNTy – A Palm Harbor man died at a hospital after a traffic crash in the parking lot of a Publix on U.S. 19 N, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Justin David Santoro, 37, of Palm Harbor, died at Mease Countryside Hospital where he was taken after the crash.

The crash happened about 2:38 p.m. Saturday (Feb. 1) in the parking lot of a Publix grocery store at the intersection of U.S. 19 N and Curlew Road in Pinellas County.

Mr. Santoro was driving a 2009 Lexus sedan at idle speed toward the southwest corner of the parking lot when he suffered a medical emergency. He continued through the parking lot, drove over a curb and onto the sidewalk where he collided with a handicap parking sign and then a palm tree, troopers said. He was not wearing a seat belt.
