He was stopped in the painted gore of an exit ramp when he was hit, Florida Highway Patrol troopers said.

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY – An Orlando motorcyclist died Monday (Nov. 5) when he was hit while stopped on I-75, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Charlie Suave Garcia, 28, of Orlando, died at the scene. The other driver, Lizangela Bonilla, 21, of Riverview, was taken to Florida Hospital South with minor injuries.

The crash happened on northbound I-75 at the exit ramp to Gibsonton Drive in Hillsborough County.

Troopers said Bonilla was driving a 2013 Toyota Corolla north on I-75 in the outside lane. Bonilla changed lanes, traveled across the painted gore at the exit ramp and collide with the 2006 Yamaha YZF R6 motorcycle that Mr. Garcia had stopped in the painted gore. Troopers said it is unclear why Mr. Garcia was stopped.
