Open House to Give Glimpse into Future of St. Pete Streets

Attendees at the event will have a chance to provide comment on a plan to make the city’s streets safe and convenient for all.

ST. PETERSBURG – The city of St. Petersburg will be holding an open house to present the Complete Streets Implementation Plan recommendations.

The open house is scheduled 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. tonight (Dec. 12) in the Empath Health Community Room, 3050 First Ave. S.

The meeting will give residents a chance to see an overview of the plan and provide final comment on the recommendations before the plan is finalized.

“Complete streets” are designed to  create better transportation environments for people of all ages and physical and economic abilities to safely and comfortably move around the city. Complete Streets are flexible and take into account the surrounding land uses they’re intended to serve and related transportation network connections.

St. Petersburg adopted a Complete Streets Policy on Nov. 2, 2015 to encourage streets that are safe and convenient for all users of the roadway, including peeople walking or riding bicycles, motorists, people with disabilities, users and operators of public transit, seniors, children, and movers of commercial goods.
