She was crossing Nebraska Avenue when she was hit, FHP troopers say.

TAMPA – A Tampa woman died of injuries she suffered Sunday (Dec. 1) morning when she was hit while crossing Nebraska Avenue (U.S. 41), the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Chanda Renee Gant, 40, of Tampa, died at Advent Health Hospital where she was taken after the crash.

The crash happened about 2:17 a.m. on Nebraska Avenue just south of E 120th Avenue in Hillsborough County.

Troopers said Ms. Gant was crossing Nebraska westbound when she stepped into the path of an oncoming vehicle, which hit her and fled the scene.

Troopers said they are searching for a white 2003-2009 Chevrolet Blazer Troopers are asking anyone with information about the crash to contact them at (813) 558-1800  or call Crime Stoppers at 800-873-TIPS (8477).
