CLEARWATER – A New Port Richey motorcyclist was seriously injured after he was thrown from his bike in a crash on U.S. 19 N, according to the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office.

Ryan Decubellis, 21, of New Port Richey, was taken to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg with serious injuries. Deputies said he was wearing a helmet. The other driver, Scott Colletti, 54, of Clearwater, suffered minor injuries and was taken to Mease Countryside Hospital.

The crash happened about 8:55 p.m. Wednesday (Jan. 30) at the intersection of U.S. 19 N and Winding Creek Boulevard in Clearwater.

Deputies said Decubellis was driving his 2017 Suzuki motorcycle north on U.S. 19 N with a group of four other motorcycles. He drove past two Pinellas deputieswho were in fully marked cruisers. Deputies said Decubellis accelerated past the deputies at a high rate of speed.

Almost simultaneously, a 2003 Kia Optima driven by Colletti began making a left hand turn across northbound U.S. 19 traffic onto Winding Creek Boulevard. Deputies said Decubellis crashed his Suzuki into the front of the Kia.
