Witnesses say he was driving recklessly and speeding immediately before the crash, Clearwater police said.
CLEARWATER BEACH – A motorcyclist was seriously injured Tuesday (May 21) in a head-on crash on Gulfview Boulevard in Clearwater Beach, the Clearwater Police Department said.
The name of the 29-year-old motorcyclist was not immediately available. He was taken by Bayflite to Bayfront St. Petersburg as a trauma alert. Police said later that his injuries did not appear to be life threatening.
The crash happened about 7:28 p.m. at Gulfview Boulevard and Fifth Street on Clearwater Beach.
Information is preliminary, but police said witnesses told them that the motorcyclist was driving recklessly and speeding immediately before the crash, which happened when he crossed the center line and slammed head-on into a pickup truck.
The crash closed Gulfview to traffic between Second Street and Hamden Drive for the investigation.
