Motorcyclist Falls from Overpass in Fatal I-4 Hit and Run
The other motorcyclist abandoned his passenger at the scene, FHP troopers said.
HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY – A Riverview man died of injuries he suffered today (Feb. 15) when he fell off an overpass when two motorcycles collided on I-4, the Florida Highway Patrol said.
Eric Lee Jordan, 35, of Riverview, died at Tampa General Hospital where he was taken after the crash. There were no other injuries.
Troopers have identified the other driver as Aaron James Davis, 29, of Riverview. Troopers said they worked overnight using tips, drivers records, and social media to identify Davis, who later contacted them. The investigation is ongoing and charges are pending the outcome.
The crash happened about 3:33 p.m. on eastbound I-4 west of 50th Street in Hillsborough County.
Troopers said Davis and Mr. Jordan were both riding motorcycles that collided, then traveled to the outside shoulder of the road. Davis, who was driving a 2015 Kawasaki, brought his bike to a controlled stop. Mr. Jordan’s motorcycle, a 2016 Yamaha, hit the south shoulder barrier wall.
The impact propelled Mr. Jordan over the barrier wall. He fell about 100 feet and landed on 50th Street.
Davis fled the scene, abandoning his passenger at the scene.
