HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY – A motorcyclist died Saturday (Nov. 4) after he was thrown off his bike during a crash on U.S. 41, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Frederick E. Grayson, 55, of Bradenton, died at the scene. He was not wearing a helmet. No one else was injured.

The crash happened about 11:10 a.m. on U.S. 41 south of Old U.S. 41A. Arthur B. Chadwell, 67, of Lakeland, was towing a boat north on U.S. 41 with a 2017 Ford F-150 pickup truck. Mr. Grayson was riding a 2007 Honda motorcycle north on U.S. 41 behind Chadwell.

Chadwell slowed to make a U-turn, troopers said, and Mr. Grayson failed to slow or stop. As a result, the motorcycle collided with the towed boat and overturned. Mr. Grayson was thrown from the motorcycle.
