Motorcyclist Dies in Pasco Crash

An SUV turned into the path of the oncoming motorcycle, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

PASCO COUNTY – A motorcyclist was killed when he was thrown off his bike during a crash Friday (July 14) afternoon, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

John Melvin Wolthekker, 70, of Hudson, died at the scene. He was not wearing a helmet.

The crash happened about 2 p.m. at the intersection of State Road 52 and Altoona Avenie. John Anthony Fred, 23, of Hudson, was eastbound on SR 52 in a 2003 Acura MDX. He turned left onto Altoona into the path of the 2000 Honda XL1200C that Mr. Wolthekker was riding. The Honda collided with the passenger side of the Acura and Mr. Wolthekker was thrown from his bike.
