Motorcyclist Dies in Pasco Crash

The motorcyclist, who was not wearing a helmet, was thrown from his bike.

PASCO COUNTY – A Lutz man died this morning (Feb. 4) when he was thrown from his motorcycle, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Ryan Nelson, 37, of Lutz, died at the scene. He was not wearing a helmet, troopers said.

The crash happened about 1:49 a.m. on State Road 54 at U.S. 41. Troopers said Mr. Nelson was driving his 2001 Honda FXSTDI east on SR 54. He merged into the right turn lane for southbound U.S. 41 but failed to negotiate the turn and collided with the curb. Troopers said the motorcyle overturned and Mr. Nelson was thrown off.
