Motorcyclist Dies After Park Street Crash

He lost control of his motorcycle, St. Petersburg police said.

ST. PETERSBURG – A motorcyclist died of injuries he suffered Saturday (Sept. 16) in a traffic crash on Park Street, the St. Petersburg Police Department said.

Michael Aaron Baker, 30, of St. Petersburg, died at Bayfront Health St. Petersburg where he was taken after the crash. He was wearing a helmet.

The crash happened about 5:25 p.m. in the 400 block of Park Street N.

Officers said Mr. Baker was driving a 2018 Yamaha motorcycle north on Park Street “at a very high rate of speed.” Mr. Baker leaned his motorcycle into the right hand turn, but lost control and slid into the southbound lanes, striking the front of a 2016 Dodge Ram box truck driven by Andriy Dorosh, 28, of St. Petersburg.
