PASCO COUNTY – A New Port Richey man died Sunday (Nov. 27) of injuries he received during a traffic crash, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Robert Leroy Cartwright, 33, of New Port Richey, died at Bayonet Point Hospital where he was taken after the crash. He was not wearing a helmet. Francine Chery, 56, of Port Richey, the driver of the other vehicle, was taken to Northbay Hospital for minor injuries.

The crash happened about 8:46 p.m. on U.S. 19 at Beach Boulevard. Chery was driving a Suzuki automobile north on U.S. 19. As she turned left onto Beach Boulevard, troopers said she drove into the path of a 2007 Honda motorcycle driven by Mr. Cartwright, which was traveling south on U.S. 19. The motorcycle hit the rear of Chery’s car and Mr. Cartwright was thrown from the bike.
