Motorcyclist Dies in Hillsborough Crash

A car turned into the motorcycle’s path, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY – A Tampa man died this morning when the motorcycle he was riding collided with a car, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Luis C. Pineda-Rodriguez, 29, of Tampa, died at the scene. Cierra Denise Mobley, 31, of Visalia, CA, the driver of the car, and Teneka L. Rayam, 35, of Daytona Beach, a passenger in the car, were taken to Tampa General Hospital with minor injuries.

The crash happened about 5:54 this morning (July 12) at the intersection of U.S. 301 and Columbus Drive in Hillsborough County. Mobley was driving a 2016 Chevrolet Malibu south on U.S. 301. She turned left onto Columbus Drive into the path of the 2012 Honda CBR that Mr. Pineda-Rodriguez was riding, troopers said. The Chevrolet collided with the Honda.
