Motorcyclist Dies in Hillsborough Crash

He was thrown from his motorcycle, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY – A Tampa man died early Friday (Oct. 14) when he was thrown from his motorcycle, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Leonel Pena, 44, died at the scene. He was wearing a helmet, troopers said.

The crash happened about 3:12 a.m. at I-4 and I-275. Mr. Pena was driving a 2016 Suzuki south on I-4 and, when he entered the junction to southbound I-275, failed to negotiate the turn. Troopers said he collided with the outside guard rail and was thrown from his motorcycle.
