Motorcyclist Dies in Hillsborough Crash

Hillsborough sheriff’s deputies said the other driver did not see the motorcycle.

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY – A Valrico man died Friday (May 13) when was thrown from his motorcycle during a traffic crash.

Timothy W. Edwards, 40, of Valrico, died at the scene, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies said he was not wearing a helmet.

The collision happened about 3:20 p.m. on Bloomingdale Avenue just east of John Moore Road. Deputies said Mr. Edwards was driving a 2006 Harley Davidson eastbound in the right lane of Bloomingdale Avenue. Ada M. Thomason, 22, of Brandon was westbound on Bloomingdale Avenue in a 2003 Ford Crown Victoria. She was in the middle turn lane waiting to turn left into Bloomingdale Plaza. Traffic for eastbound Bloomingdale Avenue in the left lane was at a stand still and there was a gap in the traffic. Thomason turned left but traffic in the right lane was not stopped and she did not see the motorcycle, deputies said. Thomason turned into the path of the motorcycle, which struck the front of the Ford and Mr. Edwards was ejected onto the south road and landed on the sidewalk, deputies said.

Neither Thomason nor her passenger, her 7-month-old daughter, was injured. Alcohol was not a factor, according to deputies.
