Police Tape | Accident | Crime

The other driver failed to yield right of way. But the motorcycle’s speed contributed to the crash, Hillsborough deputies said.

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY – A motorcycle driver died from injuries he suffered in a crash Monday (Nov. 5) on Gibsonton Road, the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office said.

Charles Frietsch, 65, died at Tampa General Hospital where he was taken after the crash. No other injuries were reported.

The crash happened about 8 p.m. at the intersection of Gibsonton Drive and Park Place Avenue in Hillsborough County.

A 2010 Chevy Camaro, driven by Shawn Roach, 22, was sitting at a yellow flashing signal to turn left from Gibsonton Drive onto Park Place Avenue. A 2014 Harley Davidson, drive by Mr. Frietsch, was traveling eastbound on Gibsonton Drive with a solid green light.

Police said the Chevrolet failed to yield the right of way to the motorcycle, which struck the right side of the Chevrolet. The impact threw Mr. Frietsch off the bike. Speed of the motorcycle was a factor in this case.
