Motorcyclist Dies When Crashing into JCPenney Wall

He lost control of his motorcycle and failed to make a left turn, Tampa police said.

TAMPA – A motorcyclist died Wednesday (May 8) when he crashed into a wall of the JCPenny store at Westshore Plaza, the Tampa Police Department said.

Mauricio Daniel Moreno-Esparza, 31, died at the scene. He was not wearing a helmet, officers said.

The crash happened about 5:59 p.m. at the JCPenney at Westshore Plaza, 250 Westshore Plaza, Tampa.

Police said Mr. Moreno-Esparza was riding a motorcycle in the parking lot of Westshore Plaza near JC Penney when he failed to negotiate a left turn. Mr. Moreno-Esparza and the motorcycle hit the east wall of JC Penney.
