Motorcyclist Dies in Crash on Selmon Expressway

The motorcyclist was thrown from his bike, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY – A Brandon man died Sunday (Oct. 23) when he was thrown from his motorcycle and hit by another car during a traffic crash on the Selmon Expressway, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Anthony Dorofy, 43, died at the scene of his injuries. There were no other injuries.

The crash happened about 9 p.m. at mile marker 14 on State Road 618. Mr. Dorofy was riding his 2011 Yamaha motorcycle east when he overtook and collided with the rear of a trailer towed by a 1998 Chevrolet truck driven by Lori De La Gardelle, 60, of Valrico. Upon impact, troopers said, Mr. Dorofy was thrown from his bike and into the roadway where he was hit by a 2017 Mercedes E300 driven by Cecile Nash, 69, also of Valrico.  No charges have been filed.
