PINELLAS COUNTY – A motorcyclist died Tuesday (Sept. 11) when he crashed into a Pinellas school bus that turned into his path, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Wanderley Rosales Echemen, 21, of St. Petersburg, died at the scene. Neither the bus driver nor students from Nina Harris Exceptional Education Center were injured.

The crash happened about 4:51 p.m. at the intersection of 62nd Avenue N and 28th Street in Pinellas County.

Troopers said Mr. Echemen was driving a 2012 Honda motorcycle east on 62nd Avenue. As he approached the intersection of 28th street, a Pinellas County School District bus driven by Hector Ramon Paz, 60, of Largo, that was carrying students from Nina Harris turned south from 62nd Avenue onto 28th Street and into the path of the motorcycle. The motorcycle hit the right side of the bus.
