Motorcyclist Dead, Passenger Critical After State Road 54 Crash

A passenger van turned into the path of the motorcyclist, FHP troopers said.

PASCO COUNTY – An Odessa motorcyclist died of injuries he received Friday (Dec. 28) in a traffic crash on State Road 54, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

John Edward Valentine, 50, of Odessa, died at the Regional Medical Center at Trinity where he was taken after the crash. Diane L. Burkhardt Mier, 54, of New Port Richey, was taken to St. Joseph’s Hospital in critical condition.

The other driver was not injured. Troopers said alcohol was not a factor in the crash.

The crash happened about 4:59 p.m. at SR 54 and Asturian Parkway and Black Lake Road in Pasco County.

Troopers said Mr. Valentine was driving a 2004 Harley Davidson Fat Boy west on SR 54 when a 2015 Chevrolet Express van driven by Eugenio Clerge, 57, of Brooksville, turned into his path and hit the bike.
