FHP troopers said he fled the scene after arguing with the child’s parents.

PORT RICHEY – A motorcyclist was arrested Sunday (Feb. 17) after he fled a crash that seriously injured a 2-year-old child, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Izzabella Brinson, 2, of Port Richey, was taken to St. Joseph’s Children’s Hospital in serious condition. Neither the motorcycle driver nor his passenger was injured.

Buddy Jay Kline, 63, of Port Richey, was charged with one count each of Failure to Use Due Care, DUI, and Leaving the Scene of a Crash.

The crash happened about 7:51 p.m. on Oak Crest Drive in Port Richey.

Troopers said Kline was driving a 2018 motorcycle east on Oak Crest Drive approaching several children who were playing basketball in the roadway.

The motorcycle hit Izzabella and stopped. Kline and his passenger got off the motorcycle and argued with Izzabell’s parents. Kline and his passenger then fled the scene on the motorcycle, troopers said.

Kline was found by a Pasco County sheriff’s deputy as the motorcyclist pulled into his driveway elsewhere on Oak Crest Drive.
