Motorcycle Passenger Dies in Pasco Crash

The motorcycle driver is in critical condition, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

PASCO COUNTY – A Hudson woman died Sunday (Dec. 17) when she was thrown from a motorcycle during a crash on U.S. 19, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Monika Elizabeth Wicks, 24, of Hudson who was a passenger on the motorcycle, died at the scene. She was not wearing a helmet.

Patrick McKinney, 29,. of Hudson, who was driving the motorcycle, was taken to Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point in critical condition. He was also thrown from the bike. He was wering a helmet.

The crash happened about 8:15 p.m. on U.S. 19 N south of New York Avenue in Pasco County. Troopers said McKinney was driving a 2003 Kawasaki south on U.S. 19 at a high rate of speed. The motorcycle overtook a 2004 Ford F150 pickup truck driven by Teresa N. Barthle, 50, of Hudson, and collided with the rear of the pickup truck. Both motorcycle riders were thrown from the bike upon impact.
