Motorcycle Driver Dies in Hernando Crash

Florida Highway Patrol troopers said the man was traveling at a high rate of speed before the crash.

HERNANDO COUNTY – A motorcycle driver died Friday (March 17) in a Hernando County crash, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Anthony C. Elliot, 20, of Spring Hill, died at the scene. Michael J. Gennusa, 66, the driver of the other vehicle, and Helen M. Gennusa, 63, his passenger, both suffered minor injuries and were taken to Oak Hill Hospital. The Gennusas are both from Spring Hill.

The crash happened about 10:29 a.m. at the intersection of Mariner Boulevard and Marysville Street. Troopers said Mr. Elliot was driving a 2007 Kawasaki ZX1000 southbound on Mariner at a high rate of speed. The Gennusas were traveling east on Marysville in a 2015 Honda Accord. The Honda turned north on Mariner into the path of the Kawasaki causing the two vehicles to collide.
