Pinellas sheriff’s deputies are investigating the cause of the crash but say they believe he suffered a medical problem.

SOUTH PASADENA – A Michigan man died at a local hospital Sunday (Feb. 12) after the car he was driving crashed into some bushes, the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office said.

Larry Robert Inch, 69, of Wyandotte, MI, died at Bayfront Health St. Petersburg where he was taken after the crash.

The crash happened about 9:50 a.m. at the intersection of Pasadena Avenue and Shore Drive in South Pasadena. Mr. Inch was driving a 2017 Kia Rio rental car northbound on Pasadena Avenue when it stopped in traffic near the intersection of Shore Drive. Deputies said witnesses saw Mr. Inch slumped over the steering wheel and unresponsive.

Good Samaritans tried helping him, but the windows on the Kia were up and the vehicle was locked. The Kia rolled northbound through the intersection, drove over the sidewalk, and crashed into bushes on the east side of Pasadena Avenue. Deputies said they had to break the windows on the Kia to reach Mr. Inch.

Deputies said they suspect that Mr. Inch suffered a medical issue before the crash. They said they don’t believe that alcohol or speed was a factor in the crash.
