POLK COUNTY – A Largo woman was critically injured in a crash on I-4 when she lost control of her car, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Michelle M. Lavecchia, 30, of Largo, was taken to Lakeland Regional Medical Center in critical condition. No one else was injured in the crash.

The crash happened about 4:36 p.m. Wednesday (Feb. 27) at about the 33 Mile Marker on I-4 in Polk County.

Troopers said Lavecchia was driving a 2008 Toyota Corolla east on I-4 when she began to change lanes. While changing lanes, Lavecchia lost control of the Corolla, which rotated and hit a 2018 Toyota Prius that was also traveling east.

After the crash, the Corolla continued onto the shoulder and collided with a light pole. The Prius entered the center median and hit the guardrail.
